Confidence After Forty Looks Different, and Better
There is a peculiar idea that confidence belongs to youth.
Advertising certainly seems convinced of it. Confidence is usually represented by smooth skin, enormous sunglasses and somebody striding purposefully through an airport despite apparently having no luggage. Women are encouraged to preserve youth, recover youth, disguise ageing and generally behave as though turning forty represents an administrative error that should be corrected immediately.
